I just finished our first primary debate in Clifton, Virginia.  I had a wonderful time and I met many new friends and hopefully convinced many in the audience to vote for me and to support our campaign for change.

Last Saturday, I walked with my supporters all day, close to twenty miles from my district outside the beltway in Northern Virginia to the White House and on to the Capitol to symbolically deliver my plan for a smart, phased withdrawal from Iraq. Tonight, The Fed just announced a series of moves to attempt to relieve the credit crisis and stave off a recession.  Our economy has been deeply damaged by the actions of President Bush, it is time for change and new leadership.  I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I have been watching very closely this week's actions in the Persian Gulf between the U.S. Navy and Iranian Navy.  We, and the entire world can't afford to turn this into another Gulf of Tonkin incident. There is simply too much at stake.

Thanks for your time and interest in my first Daily Kos diary.  I'm Doug Denneny and I just filed for Congress in Virginia's 11th District www.dougforcongress.org . I'll need your advice, counsel, and assistance over the next fifteen months.  This is me, the candidate writing, warts and all... nobody will ghost write these blogs for me.  I'll be very candid with you, and believe in straight talk, transparency, and in working hard together to get Democrats elected locally in 2007 and nationally in 2008.

I'm the only Democrat who has filed for this race.  The seat is held by Tom Davis; a vulnerable incumbent in a district trending blue, who has said he is bored with the House and if John Warner retires, will probably run for the Senate in 08.

Regardless of how the dominos fall and who I'll possibly face in a primary or general, I'm in this race to win and I will be the most qualified and capable candidate in this race.  I represent change and I want to improve the future of the citizens of the 11th District and all Americans.  I have a passion for public service and I have the necessary work ethic and strong resume to win this seat and to increase our Democratic majority in Congress.
